It’s never too late to start taking better care of your skin
Open any beauty magazine and you’ll find plenty of advice about how to take care of your skin. You’ll find lots of information about makeup, sunscreen, and how lifestyle choices can affect your skin and health in the long term. So, it can be discouraging if you’ve spent the better part of your years without much regard for your skin – especially when those “not so healthy” choices start to catch up to you.
The best time to start a skin care routine is now
Even if you’ve never been interested in skin care, it’s not too late to put together an effective regimen. The key is not to get overwhelmed: a good, effective skin care routine needs to be neither expensive nor time consuming. But you need to take the first step.
What is the first step in starting a new skin care routine?
First, you need to determine your skin type. Then you should address any skin care concerns you have. You may need to address blemishes or aging skin, or even extreme sensitivity. So you need to do your research.
Again, don’t get discouraged. There are almost infinite skin care products on the market – it’s not necessary to research each product and ingredient. Talk to a friend or acquaintance who has great skin, and ask what she (or he!) uses. Find out if that product is compatible with your skin and your needs.
If you are really unsure where to start, a trip to the dermatologist can be a tremendous help. You should be going once a year anyway for an overall skin check-up, so take that opportunity to get some insight into what you should be doing for your skin.
